Designed in coordination with the BBC (to be filmed for later broadcast)
In 2020 the Middle East will be characterized by economies that prosper, governance systems that are stable and transparent, and dynamic societies that celebrate diversity. Is this future possible? What economic and social potential could be unleashed in a Middle East at peace? What leadership role must key regional powers play? Join this highly interactive BBC debate where unconventional thinking that breaks down taboos is not only encouraged, but also required.

Session Objective: To provide a detailed and creative vision of a bright future for the region, understand the key milestone that must be met and appreciate the implications for today's decision-makers.

The Future of Talent I Session summary I Graphics I Photos
Transforming the education system for all learners is crucial for successful economic development, social progress and political stability throughout the MENA region. Governments will not be able to successfully meet this objective alone. Efforts are underway in the region presenting innovative and sustainable strategies to assure that learners at all levels will have the knowledge and skills they require to become productive and responsible citizens. The challenges are many and reflect broad sets of interests and views ranging from aspirations for preserving cultural identity to the imperative of labour markets. Achieving far-reaching results to meet the needs of learners and of society will require intelligence, creativity, resources and political will.

Session Objectives: To provide insight into possible, plausible scenarios of education reform to help regional leaders identify risks and opportunities and develop more robust strategies for modernizing education in the MENA region.

Leadership in Diversity I Session summary I Photos
Leaders have to learn to deal with people from diverse and sometimes conflicting backgrounds. An understanding of the emotional dimension of negotiations can help leaders avoid the pitfalls of these situations and learn how to maximize the benefits of diversity.

Session Objective: In a simulation exercise, explore the emotional dynamics of negotiations and draw out the lessons for successful leadership.

Empowering Entrepreneurs I Session summary I Photos I Graphics
If the Middle East is to create the required jobs for the future, government-led schemes will not be sufficient. In addition, we need to encourage entrepreneurs at the grassroots level to develop their ideas and equip them with the tools they need to succeed. Governments, investors and other institutions need to work together to enable and empower young entrepreneurs.

Session Objective: To generate a basis for renewed commitments and specify recommendations for action by governments and the private sector to encourage entrepreneurship in the Middle East.
