Leaders share their insight into issues that will be addressed at the World Economic Forum on the Middle East.

Cairo

  • Reform Imperative: Sherif El Diwany, Director, Middle East and North Africa, World Economic Forum, says the time is ripe for change in the region.

  • Stock Markets: Mohamed Alabbar, Chairman, Emaar Properties, says the Middle East stock market correction was "inevitable".

  • Working to fulfil the promise of a new generation: H.R.H. Princess Lolwah Al Faisal, Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees & General Supervisor of Effat College, Saudi Arabia, and Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, says the meeting is an opportunity to promote collaboration in order to fulfil "the promise of a new generation".

  • US-Middle East relations: H.E. Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabr Al Thani, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, says improved US-Middle East relations are critical to Arab world development.

  • Education vital for tolerance and harmony: Lord Carey of Clifton, a member of the Forum's Foundation Board and Co-Chair of the Forum's C-100 community, believes that education is key to removing prejudice against one another.

  • Capital Markets: Ibrahim Dabdoub, CEO, National Bank of Kuwait, says the development of capital markets must keep pace with the growth needs of the region.

  • Private sector action: Curt Ferguson, President, North and West Africa Division, The Coca-Cola Company, says that the private sector can help alleviate the youth skills and water shortage problems in the Middle East.

  • Looking to the future: Shafik Gabr, Chairman and Managing Director, Artoc Group for Investment, and Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, says the meeting aims to generate measures to ensure a better future for the region's youth.

  • Seizing the moment: Nemir Kirdar, Founder, President and CEO, Investcorp, and Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East, believes the economic boom presents opportunities for reform that are not to be missed.

  • Job Creation: Augusto Lopez-Claros, Chief Economist and Director, Global Competitiveness Network of the World Economic Forum, says job creation must be at the top of the reform agenda.
